Renovation reality – Part Two

In Part One, we took you behind the scenes of the renovation process to show what happens before those beautiful “after” photos appear on our socials and website.

Here’s a quick recap. First comes the initial consultation and property assessment, where we listen to your ideas and visit your property to determine what’s possible. Then it’s time for the paperwork, with contracts prepared and project planning completed, followed by design and preparation.

Once the design is finalised and everything from the tiles to the tapware has been selected, it’s time to bring all the pieces of your property dream together.

Depending on the scope of your renovation, the area may need to be completely cleared of furniture and belongings so our team has a blank canvas to work with. Think of it as moving house – everything packed safely into boxes and stored until your renovation is complete.

Because once demo day arrives, there’s no going back!

Step 4 – Renovation & project management

The renovation may not have started yet, but you’ll know it’s coming. Our team will organise safety barriers around your property, arrange for a skip bin to be delivered and, of course, bring in the tell-tale sign of any home renovation – the port-a-loo.

With everything in place, the transformation can begin.

Your project manager coordinates every trade involved in the renovation, ensuring each team is ready when needed and that the project keeps moving. It starts with removing the old to make way for the new.

Fixtures and fittings, tiles and flooring, walls and windows may all be removed to create the blank canvas our plumbers, carpenters, electricians and tilers need to work their magic.

Yes, it can be loud and messy – but you’re never left to navigate it alone. Your project manager will be there every step of the way, keeping you informed and providing clear communication throughout the build.

Step 5 – Completion & handover

Depending on the size and scope of your renovation, we estimate around six to eight weeks from start to finish for a typical kitchen or bathroom renovation.

Of course, there can be variables outside our control, such as weather or unforeseen issues, which may affect the timeline. But your project manager will keep you up to date, manage any challenges and work to keep your renovation on track.

Before long, the smell of fresh paint and the sound of the final clean-up will signal that the finish line is near. Once the tradies have packed up their gear and the last ute has left, we’ll carry out our final checks to make sure everything is finished to the highest standard.
